New York City, New York – The shootings seem to not be slowing down in New York City, as there was a reported seven shooting incidents on August 2nd that impacted 10 victims total. When reviewing the shootings for the entire week preceding the weekend, the city saw a total of 32 shootings with 36 victims.
That same week in 2019 only saw 19 shootings overall.
The current year is setting some disheartening trends and also records within New York City.
During the past calendar week in the Big Apple there was an average of one homicide a day – which is yet again an increase during the same period in 2019 as that same week only saw five homicides total.
One of the recent murders in the city took place at around 6:30 a.m. on August 1st. A 35-year-old male was holding open the door of a local McDonald’s on Dix Avenue in Far Rockaway, when an unidentified assailant walked up to the man and shot him once in the chest and once in the back.
